98FM presenter Steven Cooper has announced he’s taking over the breakfast show on iRadio, recently made vacant by Dave O’Connor.
Steven made the announcement at 8:30pm yesterday on Facebook and Twitter, which gained lots of messages of good luck in return.
On Twitter, he said: “Delighted to announce that My new job is breakfast presenter on iRadio kicking off in a few weeks”
Steven said on Facebook: “I am delighted to announce that i will be the new breakfast presenter on iRadio. We kick off in a few weeks and am very excited!”
Replies included Daniel Pitcher from FM104 saying “Congrats Steven, fair play ” and Spin 1038 Drive Time presenter Steve K saying “Congrats my brother from another mother.Gonna miss you around Spin.I’ll cry myself to sleep tonight.”
Soon-to-be-colleague at iRadio Simon Murdoch joked: “Stay away from my parking space”.
Steven has worked on many radio stations and has been presenting radio shows since he was 13. He’s been on-air at Q102, FM104, Spin 1038, Beat 102-103, RED FM, Atlantic 252 and 98FM.
He’s been nominated twice for a PPI Award, for best music driven program and music broadcaster of the year.
Dave O’Conner announced he was leaving the breakfast show less than two weeks ago, and told RadioToday.ie at the time: “I am leaving iRadio on great terms with the management and share holders who called me today to express their disappointment at my decision. I am delighted to have been a part of iRadio and it’s success to date.”
