No suitable internal applications have been received for Editor of Radio 1’s news programme Morning Ireland.
The station confirmed to the independent that nobody ‘who met the criteria for the position’ came forward after the position was advertised internally among 1,800 staff.
The newspaper believes that the reluctance of RTE staff to apply for the position is down to the anti-social shifts on the programme.
These require a start time of 5am on the ‘early’ shift while the ‘late’ starts at 4pm and finishes at midnight. However, shifts are rotated so nobody stays on one shift for too long.
The position is expected to be re advertised.
