Talk show host Neil Prendeville has left Cork’s 96FM to join cross-town rival Red FM to host a new daily mid-morning show.
The move was announced by Keith Cunningham, Red FM’s incoming Programme Director, who’ll be presenting breakfast on the station from March 31st.
KC told RadioToday.ie: “I’m delighted to get back to Cork and back to a station I love. When Henry Condon (rip) launched Red all those years ago he had a dream to make It the biggest in Cork, with Neil on board we can really make this happen.
“Our new CEO Diarmuid O’Leary has pulled off the biggest Surprise signing ever. It’s incredibly exciting for everyone at RedFM.”
Independent.ie reports that staff at 96FM were informed by email at close of business this evening that Mr Prendeville would no longer be working with them.
“They were told that contract discussions which had been ongoing had “failed to reach agreement” and that he was leaving.”
Regular cover jock PJ Coogan will host Neil’s show till a full time replacement is found.
