RTÉ 2fm is getting behind Cormac Battle and Andrew Mann to support the release of their charity single, ‘Be Mine’, in aid of Friends of the Rotunda Maternity Hospital.
‘Be Mine’ was one of the songs in the running to be Ireland’s entry in Eurovision 2014, but was piped to the post on The Late Late Show judgement night by Kasey Smith and Cann-Linn.
Cormac, who wrote the song and hosts a new Friday night new music show on the station, says he didn’t want the song to disappear: “On reflection, we didn’t want to let the song die that night. It’s still a great song and releasing it as a charity single can bring positivity to what was a pretty bruising Eurosong experience!”
Andrew Mann said: “We got kicked fairly hard at Eurosong but I love the tune dearly. I still think it was the best one in there and putting it out for a good cause is good karma all round.”
The Friends of the Rotunda Maternity Hospital is the fundraising arm of the Rotunda Hospital. Their aim is to raise money for research, better facilities and services and additional vital and life-saving equipment, particularly where the State is unable to meet such costs.
