RTÉ’s The John Murray Show on Radio 1 has launched a joint music competition with The Saturday Night Show.
New emerging Irish music acts are being offered the chance of airplay in the competition, which aims to celebrate new emerging Irish musicians.
Three finalists will play live on the show on May 29th, and the eventual winner will have their music played on John’s show and will perform live on the Saturday Night Show on RTÉ One.
Ann Marie Power, Editor of Entertainment and Music at Radio 1 says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging musicians. Both shows are supporters of fledging Irish acts, including Little Green Cars, The Original Rudeboys, Villagers, Ham Sandwich, The Lost Brothers, Hudson Taylor and many, many more. RTÉ continues to give a platform to legions of new-to-air musicians who have made impressive radio, online and television debuts across RTÉ.”
The competition is open to soloists and bands across all genres and the judging panel includes well-known singer Jerry Fish and Cait O’Riordan, former bass player with the Pogues and Caroline Murphy from The Saturday Night Show. The deadline for entries is 12noon, Friday 2 May.
