A radio drama collaboration between Ocean FM and Benbo Productions in Co Leitrim has been nominated for a Prix Europa award for the second successive year.
“The Cambria” has been nominated in the Radio Fiction category and is the only local radio station in Ireland to receive a nomination.
Written and produced by Donal O’Kelly, “The Cambria” tells the story of escaped slave, Frederick Douglass. The Cambria was a trans-Atlantic paddle-steamer. On August 10th 1845, Douglass was among the passengers on The Cambria’s Boston-Cork route.
It was recorded at The Glens Centre in Manorhamilton in Co Leitrim.
Last year, Ocean FM/Benbo’s production of radio drama series, “Francisco”, won a Prix Europa Gold Award.
