LMFM Radio has added a fresh new sound to their night time schedule as 26-year-old Dubliner Karl Dawson has joined the team.
Karl is taking over the 9pm – 12 midnight slot on a permanent basis following the departure of Andy Clarke for Dublin’s 98FM.
Speaking about his appointment to the schedule, Karl said: “I am really excited about joining the team at LMFM, there is a great buzz at the station and I can’t wait to get to know the listeners too”.
Dawson, who started his radio life out in community station Near FM, was to be found in more recent times on Communicorp’s digital platform FRQ.fm – which itself is now under the stewardship of Andy Clarke.
LMFM’s Programme Director Eamonn Doyle said of Karl joining the station: “I am a firm believer in bringing in and encourage new talent when we get the opportunity. Karl is a great addition to the team, and has already brought about a new dynamic to our evening schedule”.
Karl will present LMFM’s Interactive, where listeners get to choose what they want to hear, from 9pm to 10pm, followed by Radio Romance until midnight.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting that interaction with the audience and hearing directly from them and what they want to hear”. Of the Radio Romance slot, he added: “This show carries real history. It has been around for well over 20 years, and I’ve never experienced before how passionate and protective listeners can be about a show – so no pressure there!”
