RTÉ 2fm is continuing its partnership with Cycle Against Suicide after launching the event on-air today.
2fm’s support of the campaign extends across the station, with all shows encouraging listeners to register for the cycle or volunteer to the organisation in a variety of ways. As in previous years, Drive By’s Colm Hayes will take to his bike for a number of legs of this year’s cycle.
Founder Jim Breen officially launched this year’s cycle on 2fm’s Tubridy and detailed his plan to take on the task of running the entire route of the cycle over 28 days, starting immediately after his appearance on the show.
Commenting on the partnership with 2fm, Jim Breen said: “We held our first ever student event at 2fm’s studios, when Colm Hayes came on board to support us when we were relatively unknown. Since then, our partnership has grown from strength to strength, with 2fm’s efforts proving vital to us in spreading our message and raising awareness of the work we do. Together we’re making incredible inroads in breaking the cycle of suicide on the island of Ireland.”
Head of 2fm, Dan Healy, commented that: “2fm is delighted to continue its successful partnership with Cycle Against Suicide. We provide unique coverage to an organisation that is making a real difference and our renewal is a vote of confidence in the impact that Cycle Against Suicide is making.”
