RTÉ 2FM’s drivetime presenter – formerly one half of long-running FM104 and 2FM breakfast pairing ‘Colm & Jim-Jim’ – is the latest radio presenter to be interviewed in the 738AM Podcast from Dublin-based content, podcast based, distribution and production network Castaway Media.
Presented by voiceover artist Andrew Mangan, the podcast takes its name from the medium-wave frequency of the original Radio Nova, which was Hayes’ on-air home early on in his career.
Hayes and Mangan discuss how he was sent by Chris Cary to help bring back the LA radio sound to Dublin, the change from pirate to legal, creating the hugely successful Strawberry Alarm Clock breakfast show on FM104, bringing it to RTE, the changes enforced by the death of Gerry Ryan, what it meant for his relationship with JimJim, and loads more besides.
The whole interview is over 50 minutes long and can be heard here.
Previous interviewees include Newstalk’s Tom Dunne and Colm Hayes’ RTÉ 2FM co-worker Rick O’Shea.
