Ballina Community Radio given temporary license by BAI

Ballina Community Radio has been awarded a temporary license by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland which will see them begin weekend FM broadcasts this coming Saturday, June 27th.

The new community radio station, whose tagline is “Feel Good Radio”, will broadcast to Ballina & environs on 101.9FM every Saturday and Sunday from this weekend until Sunday October 4th.

The station will also be available via a live stream on the station’s web site or on mobile devices using the TuneIn app.

First on air in this weekend’s opening BCR broadcast will be Tom McShane and Barry Rafter at 9am on Saturday morning, with “The Lie-in”.

The station’s presenters gathered, along with guests and supporters at their Launch Party last Thursday, June 18th, at The Ballina Manor Hotel, for an evening of music, fun and fundraising.

The station is not-for-profit and will continue to be run completely by volunteers who all live in the community and have a passion for the town.

The team, which has already been assembled, is also keen to create awareness of local groups, charities, events and raise the profile of the town and the people that live and work here.
