2FM wants new music for the Electric Picnic

RTÉ 2FM is introducing a new Play the Picnic Stage as it returns to the Electric Picnic for 2017.

The station will showcase up and coming bands after a nationwide search in June alongside more established acts. Thirty unsigned acts will have the opportunity to compete and win to play a live set at Electric Picnic, while Play the Picnic will also host established new acts such as Roisin O, Ivy Nations, David Keenan, Chasing Abbey, Wolff, Marcas Carcas, Brave Giant and Military Road with more to be confirmed.

The new stage will be curated and produced by music promoters Abner Browns and RTÉ 2XM’s King Kong Radio, along with partners and curators Music Maker and IMRO.

Alan Swan, Head of Music at 2FM says, ‘Play The Picnic is always one of our live music highlights on 2FM and a great way of discovering new Irish acts for the station. The quality of entries is always incredible and I especially love the mix of styles & genres that get entered. I can’t wait to hear this year’s submissions.’
