Al Porter has quit Today FM and says he is taking a break from public life after recent allegations against him.
He says he has been completely taken aback by reports in the media and social networks and by the scale and tone of the vitriol. The lunchtime host says he is sorry for any distress he may have caused people in what he describes as light-hearted and good natured circumstances.
Al goes on to thank his family, friends, colleagues and fans for their support.
