Al Porter takes time out from Today FM show

Today FM presenter Al Porter is to take time off from his show following recent events.

A number of people have claimed on social media that he has behaved inappropriately towards them in the past. Today FM says it has spoken with the presenter about the online comments and has confirmed Al is taking some ‘personal time’.

“In light of recent events, Today FM and Al Porter have agreed that Al will take some personal time from his lunchtime radio show,” the station said today.

The statement from the Communicorp station yesterday said: “Today FM has spoken with Al Porter and his management team concerning these online comments. We take any comments of this nature extremely seriously. Likewise, we take the welfare of our presenters and staff extremely seriously. Today FM is not commenting any further at this time.”

Al Porter’s conduct allegations have been front page news in recent days, with one paper citing four named individuals who allege that the lunchtime radio presenter harassed them.

Today FM hired Al Porter as the replacement for Dermot & Dave’s lunchtime and he started on February 13th 2017.
