UTV’s seven radio stations in Ireland will play their part in providing content and contacts for the company’s new proposed television channel.
Managing Director of TV at UTV, Michael Wilson, told Newstalk today that he’ll soon be speaking to journalists and staff from UTV Radio stations.
He said: “The radio stations and TV side of things have not yet sat down and talked about infastructre and how things will fit together, but why on earth wouldn’t you use that great network of information, contacts and resource to boost the newsgathering of the new organisation.
“Certainly when we sit down with the radio guys that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.”
UTV Radio Ireland owns FM104 and Q102 in Dublin, along with five other radio stations and a national sales house. The new TV channel will be based in Dublin but will have additional newsgathering and reporting presence in Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick.
