Beat 102-103 has announced two new additions to the station’s presenter line-up – David Hammond and Paula Phelan.
David Hammond is the new presenter of the Top 7@7 and the Takeover on Beat, broadcasting Monday-Thursday from 7pm. David has just completed his degree in Media, Arts & Technologies at Dundalk I.T. and has been working during college with LMFM.
He says “I am so excited to be joining the Beat team. There is such a great energy around the station and I can’t wait to get to know my listeners, my colleagues and the South East!”
Meanwhile, Paula Phelan is the new host of Friday Night Beat Anthems and the Sunday Takeover on Beat. Paula has this week completed the W.I.T./Beat 102-103 Introduction to Radio Broadcasting and presenting course. She has been working part-time with Beat as part of the promotions team for almost a year.
She says “I am beyond excited to be joining the Beat on-air team! Radio has always been a big part of my life, I have it playing from morning to night. I joined the Beat Fleet just over a year ago and I instantly fell in love with the buzz of radio and I just knew this is an industry I want to work in and I couldn’t think of a better station to start with. I have listened to Beat for years and I can’t put into words how thrilled I am to be starting on air and to be working in such a fun, interesting and exciting environment.”
Head of Station Sound Niall Power says he’s delighted to welcome the fresh new voices to the Beat lineup: “We’re always excited to bring new talent into the industry and onto the airwaves. David is an exciting young talent bursting with energy and I’m sure that our Takeover listeners will appreciate his unique style.
Our weekend lineup is also getting stronger with the addition of Paula on Friday and Sunday evenings. It’s brilliant to see talent grow through our Broadcast Course and Paula has a great career ahead of her.”
Gabrielle Cummins, C.E.O. and Programme Director of Beat adds “Beat 102-103 has established a reputation for growing our own talent. Paula is a shining example of how important it is to make the most of opportunities. During her time on the Beat fleet, Paula jumped at the chance to go on air and took the initiative to further her skills through our WIT associated broadcast course. Paula, along with our newest voice David highlight the fact that we at Beat value the importance of constantly sourcing new talent who can help us build on our market leading position across the South East. I want to wish them both the best of luck and know they will be a huge asset to our already established & hugely talented on air team.”
