2fm girls on the run for money in Dublin

2fm presenters Ruth Scott and Louise Heraghty are set to run the 10km route of the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon this June.

They’re doing it to raise money for Irish charities along with 40,000 others on Monday 3rd June.

rte2fmIt’s the 31st year 2fm has supported the event, and the station will be broadcasting live from the streets on the day.

Ruth told the Herald: “There is nothing like the feeling I get when I look at the excited faces of 40,00 adrenaline-buzzed ladies, all set to do their personal best. You can spot the people who have been training for years, as well as the newcomers. All of them are giving it their best shot. Even with such dedication, it’s such a fun day.

“One of my favourite things is the massive singalong that we do before the race starts. You’d be surprised as how much energy the ladies have to dance along to S Club 7, B*witched and the Vengaboys before the race starts.” Ruth also points out that over €123m has been raised over the years.

“People are so generous with their donations and it’s clear to see on the day with practically every runner wearing a charity T-shirt,” she says.

Louise Heraghty: “This my 10th year in a row taking part. I really love everything about the day: the pre-race nerves, the excitement and build up at the starting line and the well-deserved cuppa afterwards generally spent nattering with friends and family who have also crossed the finish line,” says Louise. “Although I know that completing a 10km run or walk is a great achievement for anybody, I am determined to reach my own personal target this year,” she continues
