Storyful’s Gareth O’Connor, formerly of RTÉ news and sport, has been hired by Today FM as the station’s new Managing Editor for News.
He joins new recruit Gavan Reilly who has just been appointed as Today FM’s new Senior Reporter for Politics.
Gareth O’Connor has over twenty two years in the broadcasting industry working in both radio and television as a journalist, presenter and editor.
He was editor of News on Two on RTÉ Two Television and was responsible for helping to introduce social media news tools into the RTÉ newsroom.
Prior to working in RTÉ, Gareth worked in the commercial radio sector where he presented a number of music and current affairs programmes. He has also worked in two major managerial roles as a news editor and station programme controller.
More recently, Gareth was the first Director of News Gathering at the social media news agency Storyful, where he was responsible for frontline social news discovery.
