Today FM breakfast show presenter Ian Dempsey has been honoured by radio colleagues and family in a special event at a nightclub.
Ian, who recently got a PPI Award for Outstanding Contribution in the Radio Industry, is also celebrating 25 years on air at RTÉ 2fm and Today FM.
The occasion, attended by fellow presenters and colleagues Mario Rosenstock, Matt Cooper, Louise Duffy, Paul McLoone and KC, was recorded and will be broadcast on Today FM this Bank Holiday Monday at 10am.
Ian told the Independent: “There’s a lot of change in radio in Ireland and I think people have grown up which means that people from the institutions like RTE are able to move. I moved 15 years ago to Today FM and Pat has moved and John Kelly has moved to RTÉ.
“I think everybody is beginning to accept that the independent stations are here and RTE is here and let’s all just get on together.”
