Learning Waves has been awarded funding from Skillnets to continue providing training and courses for the independent radio sector into 2014.
Funding has been awarded at a similar level to that received in 2013. To date, almost €2.1million has been invested in the training and development of employees in the sector – 50% of which has been funded by Skillnets – with the remainder coming from the sector.
Teresa Hanratty, Project Manager of Learning Waves Skillnet told RadioToday: “The funding announcement is a reflection of the commitment of all our members to the training and development of their staff. We look forward to working with all our members in 2014 for what promises to be a ‘special year’ as the network will celebrate 10 years in existence.”
Learning Waves Chairperson, Bernadette Prendergast had this to say: “Learning Waves is delighted to secure Skillnets funding again for 2014 as it endorses the high level of training we provide to the independent radio sector, which informs and entertains 2.4 million listeners across Ireland each day.
“We would like to thank Skillnets and assure them, and our member stations, that we will continue to provide relevant, evolving and exciting training courses in the year ahead”
