Late night presenter Victor Barry has presented his last Talk Back show on Red FM, to make way for new appointments including Neil Prendeville.
Victor started his goodbye speech last night (Sunday) by joking that his rumoured departure as just a publicity stunt to get an extra couple of listeners, but quickly corrected himself saying “it’s not actually.”
He said: “Since it was announced that Neil is moving from 96FM to here people have been wondering what’s going on with me. Now, I’m here to say goodbye.
“I’ve been at Red FM for over 10 years and the last couple of days have been very difficult. So I’m sad to say goodbye and like any job we’ve had our differences, we’ve had bad times, sad times, and incredibly good times.
“So just before I go on, Jono (Jonathan Gold, his producer) has put together a montage of the last couple of years.”
You can hear the goodbye message and montage above, or app users go here.
Victor has been hosting Sunday to Thursday 10pm till Midnight for the last decade.
Evening show presenter Stephen Grainger aka Stevie G and Red Rooster breakfast presenter Seamus Barry are also leaving the station.
PPI radio award winner Stevie G also hosts the Saturday evening Black on Red show and blogged over the weekend that he hopes to continue working at the station in some capacity.
Seamus Barry will be replaced by Today FM presenter KC, who will co-present a new breakfast show with current co-host Jason Coughlan.
Shane Buckley will move from mornings to evenings to make way for Neil Prendeville.
