Listeners takeover new Radio Kerry show

Listeners are set to shape an hour of Radio Kerry’s output each week in a new programme series titled Radio Active.

Hosted by Ciarán O’ Regan on Friday nights from 9 to 10pm listeners are invited to submit their own music mixes, reviews, news or information, via SoundCloud, offering them the chance to present a section of the show themselves.

RadioActive will use social media and other forums to involve listeners in the preparation and presentation of the show.

Radio Kerry General Manager Fiona Stack said: “Many of our younger listeners are using music and media in non-traditional ways creating their own sound mixes and sharing news and information with friends. We wanted to provide a live forum in which they could do this through the medium of radio”.

Presenter of The Pulse on Radio Kerry, Ciarán O Regan said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for anybody that has an interest in radio to take the first steps to being on air and getting the radio bug. It’s a chance for people to broadcast items that interests them, from Sports to Specific genres of music, from entertainment news to talking about the latest trends. The list is endless! The content is up to you. Everyone who works on radio had to start somewhere and this is a great platform to do just that!”

The first programme will broadcast on Friday February 28th
