Cormac Battle gets weekly 2fm rock show

Rick O’Shea’s co-host Cormac Battle is to present his own weekly show on RTÉ 2fm as part of the re-vamped programme schedule.

The Cormac Battle Show starts tonight at 10pm playing rock, indie and dance music for two hours.

Cormac Battle has been part of the 2fm crew since 2004, before which he was a DJ on Phantom FM. He’s also lead singer with cult Irish bands Kerbdog and Wilt, and has previously hosted shows such as The Wireless and The Battleaxe. Since 2010, Cormac has co-presented The Rick O’Shea Show every weekday between 2pm – 4.30pm.

Recently Cormac was a mentor in this year’s Euro Song with his hit ‘Be Mine’.

Commenting on his new role, Cormac Battle said: “Imagine wandering around a modern music festival. I will be doing a show that represents that vibe with a mix of Rock/Indie/Dance. Anybody who was a fan of my Rock Show ‘The Battleaxe’ will love this….it’s going to move at the speed of a rocket so lock up your daughters and hold on……it could get rough..in fact it will!”

Head of 2fm, Dan Healy said: “Cormac made his mark with the Battleaxe on Sunday nights and we’re delighted he’s part of the new Friday night mix on 2fm as he is a fantastic presenter.”
