Red FM has a new logo and a new morning line-up from today, with KC moving from Today FM to host breakfast, and Neil Prendeville arriving from 96FM.
Now known as Cork’s New RedFM, the mini-relaunch means months of planning has come to fruition by the station after persuading Prendeville to leave 96FM after 25 years.
KC, who decided to leave national station Today FM for the breakfast show gig told RadioToday.ie: “I’m delighted to get back to Cork and back to a station I love. When Henry Condon (rip) launched Red all those years ago he had a dream to make It the biggest in Cork, with Neil on board we can really make this happen.
“Our new CEO Diarmuid O’Leary has pulled off the biggest Surprise signing ever. It’s incredibly exciting for everyone at RedFM.”
The newspapers said Prendeville was making a big money move to Red FM, with a salary reported to be six figures. His senior producer Emer O’Hea-Martin and producer Colm Moore also made the move. But bosses at his old station said it’s business as usual and even started running an advertising campaign last week with a cheeky reference to his public past.
Cork’s 96FM has replaced Prendeville with PJ Coogan, along with Deirdre OShaughnessy, editor of weekly free newspaper the Cork Independent, and journalist Brenda Dennehy.
