Spirit Radio’s Spring pledge drive has ended in the station raising €42,000 to stay on-air, Chief Executive Rob Clarke announces.
In a blog post on the station’s website, Rob thanked listeners and shared a few stories on how the funds were raised. He said: “We want to say a huge thank you to you all who gave so generously, who prayed for us, and who sent in messages of encouragement. Over the last 5 days you have helped us raise €41,197. We feel so honoured and humbled by your support.”
Workers in one company in Waterford, stumbled on Spirit Radio by accident – but then made Spirit their station of choice – it is on in the workplace, throughout the day. The company rang in and said: “send down a pile of forms – there is a bunch of us here and we all want to join the supporters club.”
Later – speaking on the phone, the company said: “listening to Spirit we feel like we are a part of a community, we feel we know the presenters, we love the vibe.”
Spirit launched originally in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford but is now broadcasting in Bray/Greystones/Wicklow and Dundalk. The station plans to launch on FM in another 15 population centres in the next 12 months.
Spirit is also broadcasting on 549 Medium Wave.
