Ian Dempsey helps listener find recording

Ian Dempsey took a stroll down memory lane with one nostalgic listener this morning on Today FM breakfast.

Rachel Kenrick from Shanagolden in Co Limerick got in touch with Ian with an unusual request. Here’s what she said:

“Hi, don’t know if you can help or not, but on Friday Oct 18 2003, I was on your Free for all Friday. My daughter Erin was nearly one, and she said Mammy for the first time live on air! I taped the show, but am gutted to discover it got taped over by Stairway to Heaven so I’m wondering is there an archive that you keep old shows on? Erin would love to hear it!”

Ian said: “Now, if we’re going to be taped over by anything, we’re fairly happy with it being Stairway to Heaven – but that aside, we went to Colin McElarney, one of our engineers, and asked him if retrieving the audio was possible. He said it would be difficult, but not impossible. And so, after a lot of looking and listening, we found the audio!”
