RTÉ 2fm to crush four listeners’ cars
2fm has teamed up with Volkswagen to celebrate the Golf’s 40th birthday by giving away a car and crushing four others.
From this week, Bernard, Keith and Jen from the Breakfast Republic team are asking listeners to get in touch and tell them their motoring stories. After three weeks of travelling around the country collecting tales and finalists, four listeners will put their cars up for crushing. One listener will get a brand new car, the losers will have their cars crushed live on the radio. The winners car will also be crushed.
“We are absolutely massive fans of the new Volkswagen Golf and we’re looking forward to sharing the listeners motoring memories over the coming weeks” said the breakfast team. “Like the many times Keith travelled down to Wexford in the family VW Beetle, all seven of them packed in tight with the roof rack piled high! To be giving away a brand new VW Golf makes us feel really happy and really jealous in equal measures!”
The 2fm Scrappage Scheme final will take place on Friday June 20th, when Breakfast Republic will broadcast live from Gannon’s Scrapyard.
Paul O’Sullivan, Head of Marketing Volkswagen said: “We were looking for a really exciting way to mark the 40th anniversary of the Volkswagen Golf so we decided to team up with 2fm to celebrate motoring and give one deserving winner a brand new Volkswagen Golf. There’s just one catch – you’ll need to be prepared to put your car on the line!”
