Cork Student Station run Charity Radiothon

Students and staff at University College Cork’s student radio station are to hold a day long ’Radiothon’ in aid of Cork Penny Dinners.

The college station UCC 98.3FM will broadcast a full 24-hr schedule on Wednesday February 18th, raising awareness and money for the Cork charity.

Funds will be raised for the charity via donations with the station producing a professional ad for each €50 donated by local businesses and groups, each of which will be run 20 times a day on the station during the college’s “Raise and Give” week, Monday February 16th to Friday February 20th.

Kieran Hurley, station manager at UCC98.3FM said: “People are wishing us well and are supportive of our chosen charity. We need to start seeing some bookings to actually make a difference to this worthy cause as 100% of the money raised will go directly to Penny Dinners”.

This is the 20th year of broadcasting for UCC98.3FM, who are Ireland’s only 24 hour student radio station, broadcasting under a community license. You can see the poster and hear the promo audio for the event below:
