Cork’s 2015 Griff FM launches for week long run

Legendary Cork DJ Stevie G will launch Griffith College’s student radio station Griff FM next Monday February 9th at 10am at the Flying Enterprise on Cove Street.

The DJ will join hosts Amanda Cowhig and Joe McCarthy on The Breakfast show to chat about his experience as a radio DJ.

Griff FM is run by journalism students on the BA in Journalism and Media at Griffith College. Their launch comes a week after the run of their sister Griff FM station in Dublin.

Griffith College is one of Ireland’s largest independent third-level colleges, which recently opened the first dedicated third-level campus on the Northside of Cork city. The campus is on the five-acre site of the former Marymount Hospice on Wellington Road.

The station goes live once a year for one week only every February. From this month, students will also broadcast monthly podcasts of some of the radio stations more popular shows. These Griff podcasts will take place on the last Friday of every month.
