Off the Ball team raise more money for charity

Newstalk’s Off the Ball team have raised over €4,000 for Irish charities, Focus Ireland and Belvedere Youth Club.

Since the beginning of the year the BETDAQ Off the Ball charity bet has seen the team to use their football wisdom to raise over €8,000 in total for various charities throughout Ireland.

The money was raised through the Off the Ball teams’ weekly competitive prediction of football results and outcomes which theOTB Charity have been rolling out each Saturday for the past 12 weeks, with thanks to show sponsor BETDAQ. Presenter Dave McIntyre was top of the Off the Ball pack this season and the team’s winnings of €4,300 were donated to his chosen charities and split equally between Focus Ireland and the Belvedere Youth Club.

Commenting on his success, Dave McIntyre said: “Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to BETDAQ for making this contribution to Focus Ireland and the Belvedere Youth Club possible. I am beyond proud of my football knowledge and delighted to confirm my predictions have been superior to those of Ger Gilroy, Nathan Murphy and Kevin Kilbane which finally proves that I am the king of football on the show!”

Paul Brady of Belvedere Youth Club, said: “We wish to thank Dave and the Off the Ball team for their support of Belvedere Youth Club – without such efforts we would simply not be able to continue providing vital services for young people in North Inner Dublin City Centre. We are thrilled that Dave’s football know-how has led to this fantastic donation and sincerely thank the team at Newstalk and BETDAQ for supporting Belvedere Youth Club.”

Greg Walker with BETDAQ added: “BETDAQ are delighted to be able to support Focus Ireland and the Belvedere Youth Club on behalf of Dave McIntyre and Off the Ball. These are very worthy charities that do a huge amount of good work and we are thrilled that Dave has chosen to donate the team’s winnings to them on this occasion. The entire Off the Ball team have given some great insight and tips every Saturday with over €8,000 having been awarded to various charities for their efforts since the beginning of this year.”
