The voices of the Learning Waves Skillnet 2017 Radio Broadcasting Bootcamp course are live on FRQ FM from 12 to 1pm each day this week.
Since the 19th of June 2017 the students have been working with experts from the radio industry in order to research, produce and present a one-hour radio programme.
The students have been working in groups of three and are responsible for devising content for the programmes. On Monday 10th July, Ben Corbett, Clodagh Moriarty and Jessica Spencer presented ‘What the FRQ’. The programme was presented using a Zoo Crew style format and featured an interview with DJ John Gibbons on how he got into to music and also an interview with Jim Carroll on why there is a lack of Irish Headliners at upcoming Irish festivals. The programme featured ‘News you can Use’, Vox pops and a social media element which will take in a Twitter poll.
On Tuesday 10th July it was the turn of the FRQ Squad who presented ‘Packed Lunch’ featuring Norma, Aodhan and Philip. The show was presented by Aodhan with Norma producing and Philip researching the content for the programme. Norma and Philip also co-presented the show.
The line-up includes an interview with Lords of Strut and a piece on a ‘guide to dating’ with Philip. The FRQ Squad also took the streets of Dublin to find out about people’s worst dates. It is a packed programme full of lots of news, views and information.
