Ed Sheeran is appearing live in Cork tonight for the first of his gigs, and Red FM has changed its appearance to Ed FM for the weekend.
The station has changed logos on social media and is using the hashtag #EdFM from today, and has even changed its RDS from Red FM to Ed-FM. The station’s jeeps now have an Ed Sheeran face pic over the ‘R’ of Red to complete the picture.
Red FM, nay, Ed FM will be live from Pairc Ui Chaoimh across the weekend with VIP tickets to Ed’s best friend Taylor Swift up for grabs at Croke Park all this weekend.
The jingles and idents however remain as Red FM – if only to assure listeners it’s only a temporary change.
Head of Marketing for Cork’s RedFM, Stephen Ryan, told RadioToday: “After 8 this morning breakfast with Ray & Jay hit the button on our new name with cars seeing edFM instead of redFM on their dashboard, on top of this we have changed our on air, social branding and we have even changed our branded vehicles to edFM.”
Welcome to EdFM! We’ve completely re-branded our station to welcome @edsheeran to Cork this weekend! #EdCork pic.twitter.com/fX96y4tReT
