The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland is seeking applications for the provision of two community radio services, one serving the community of Claremorris and its Environs, and one serving the community of Dundalk and its Environs.
Public notices seeking applications were placed in the relevant local papers last month regarding the availability.
The service for Claremorris and its Environs is currently provided by Claremorris Community Radio Company Limited by Guarantee (t/a Claremorris Community Radio). This contract will expire on 31st March 2019.
In Dundalk, the service is currently provided by Dundalk Media Centre Company Limited By Guarantee (t/a Dundalk FM) and this contract will expire on the 30th August 2019.
The BAI says each of the community radio services should be community focused and should address the interests of, and seek to provide a social benefit to the communities in the relevant franchise areas. The services should be non-profit maximising and should provide for, and support, access by individuals and groups living in the franchise areas concerned.
In order to assist with the application process, the BAI has developed a Guide to Submissions and Application Form for each of the advertised community radio services. Further details regarding the application process and access to the relevant documents can be found here.
The closing date for receipt of applications for both services is 12 noon on Wednesday 1st August 2018.
