A new classical music station has started testing on DAB and DAB+ in Dublin called Pure Classic, operated by DBDB.
The station is part of a number of test channels currently broadcasting and will feature music from the early, baroque, classical and romantic eras as well as some recently composed works and film score pieces.
The station tells us the emphasis is on quality music and recordings, using the best known and loved orchestras and ensembles as well as today’s most successful soloists and performers.
Pure Classic will be commercial free and transmit at 192kbps – a stream quality which is better than RTÉ Lyric, the station points out.
The trails in Dublin are expecte to extend to Cork and Limerick later this year.
