The BAI is hosting a ‘Conversation’ on the issue of Programme Standards in the Broadcast Media this morning, starting at 10am.
The purpose of the event is to give people an opportunity to share their views on the issue of standards in broadcast content, which includes; the portrayal of people and groups in society; the treatment by programme makers of content of a sexual or violent nature and the use of coarse language in programming.
The conversation will be chaired by Donncha O’Connell, BL, Professor of Law at NUIG. During the event the outcomes of new, national research, conducted by IPSOS MRBI on behalf of the BAI, on the attitudes in Ireland to broadcasting content standards will be presented. Renowned international media analyst, Andrea Millwood Hargraves, will also be in attendance to offer her views on these results.
The event will be streamed live online and viewers will have the ability to watch but also participate in the event, submitting questions and/or comments to the speakers.
