Early morning technical problems at RTÉ‎ Radio 1

Radio 1’s back-up tape made another appearance this morning after a technical problem in the studio at 6am.

The famous emergency audio kicked in on the hour and stayed on for 11 minutes after Shay Byrne stopped talking whilst introducing the 6’o’clock news bulletin during Risin’ Time. He was distracted by an announcement about 252 LW being played in the studio.

Shay Byrne came back at 6:11am saying: “Apologies we should have news, sea area forecast, weather and all sorts of things but due to a technical fault our player kicked in which detects when I’m not there but I was there”!
