John Moloney, the afternoon drivetime presenter on Tipperary Mid West Community Radio has died, the station has announced.
The station posted a tribute to John on Thursday afternoon, informing listeners of the sad news.
Dr John hosted his first show on the station in 2005.
The station says: “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we inform all our loyal listeners that our dear colleague and friend, John Moloney, passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon, surrounded by his loving family, in the care of Limerick University Hospital.
“John presented “Drivetime” on TMWR for over 13 years. His first show with us was on Monday, 26th September 2005. He was a wonderful presenter who lived for the airwaves, having spent his entire working life behind the microphone in Limerick and Tipperary.
“John was larger than life. He had an enormous personality and brought great life, fun and happiness to our lives. Our deepest sympathies go to John’s children Fintan, Darren & Ciara, their mother Eileen, John’s siblings and extended family.
“We are heartbroken, John. We love you and will miss you so much. Rest in peace, our dear friend. x”
