RTÉ 2fm presenter Ryan Tubridy has apologised for making a comment about a philippines slave warming his seat for him.
He said, during his outside broadcast on Thursday at the RDS for the Young Scientist Exhibition, a slave had been sat on his seat for the last couple of hours to warm it up for him.
“It’s nice and warm in here today, we’ve got a heating system,” he said. “The seat was even warm – they sent in a young slave from, I think, the Philippines to warm it up for the past two hours.
“Thanks for that, much obliged.”
But the next day he said sorry for the “mistake”.
On Friday, an article in the Independent quoted Ryan as saying he is staying in his morning slot despite a shake-up in the rest of the schedule, but accepted his destiny lies in the hands of station bosses.
He said: “I loved working with Hector and I loved his show. I thought he signed off in a really stylish way and now it’s about the future,” Tubridy told this newspaper.
“It’s what’s next in 2fm that is exciting, but I will be staying in my slot — I can confirm that 100pc, I will be there,” ‘The Late Late Show’ host said.
“But there will be change around me. I await it with interest and change is healthy.”
