Fresh from his one on one interview at RadiodaysEurope, Tony Blackburn is appearing as a guest on Q102 this evening.
He’ll be joining Aidan Cooney between 6pm and 7pm for an intimate interview.
Venetia Quick, producer of Call Cooney told RadioToday: “Both Aidan and I were thrilled to have our ultimate radio hero Tony Blackburn as a guest on tonights ‘Call Cooney’ – a legend and a gentleman”.
Tony is in Dublin for the RadioDays event, which attracted 1300 radio professionals from around Europe. In a session with UK consultant John Simons, Tony answered many questions about his 50 years in broadcasting, and his time on pirate radio along with BBC Radio 1 which he launched in 1967.
When the topic of conversation turned to Jimmy Savile, Tony was happy to talk about the time he worked with him. “I never liked Jimmy Savile. I never saw or heard anything and Radio 1 was a very well run station by very middle class, white English people who were decent.”
